REPORT AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2023

 

1. REPORT OF THE DIRECTORS

COUNSENUTH Management has the pleasure to submit Financial Statements for the year ended 31st

December 2023, which disclose the state of affairs of COUNSENUTH for the financial year 2023.

2.ESTABLISHMENT

The Centre for Counselling, Nutrition and Health Care (COUNSENUTH) is a women-led, non governmental, non-profit organization in Tanzania established in 1998 (Under registration number SO. 9495) with certificate of compliance number 00001424 issued by the NGO registrar on 2011 and a new certificate from the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups (MOCDGWSG) with a registration number 00199 and is located at Plot no. 8, Sam Nujoma Road, Mikocheni B, Dar es Salaam Tanzania.

2.1 VISION STATEMENT

Tanzania whose people, particularly children, women and other vulnerable groups have optimal health, nutrition and quality life

2.2 MISSION STATEMENT

To improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups through cost-effective, innovative evidence-based actions that enhance positive behaviors and practices with active community participation

3. MANDATES OF COUNSENUTH

The mandates of CONSENUTH include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring nutrition sector governance and influencing policies and decisions to improve the nutritionalwell-being of Tanzanians;
  • Promoting optimal child and maternal nutrition and nutrition of other vulnerable groups;
  • Promote climate change adaptation and resilience to address the impacts of climate change on foodsecurity, nutrition, WASH and livelihoods Contributing to knowledge and evidence base by working with community groups to implement community-based health and nutrition programs for vulnerable groups;
  • Promoting awareness to food consumers on food quality, safety standards, hygiene and sanitation,nutrient value and healthy lifestyles through public education and information;
  • Creating awareness of human rights, gender issues, and gender-sensitive nutrition planning;
  • Organizational and institutional development for COUNSENUTH and other CSOs; and
  • Advocacy and influence to achieve sound policies, guidelines for nutrition, and better lives for women and the poor.

 

To achieve its mandate, COUNSENUTH employs a number of strategies including the following:

 

  • Capacity building on nutrition including that of a critical mass of implementerat all levels;
  • Nutrition Advisory and Technical Assistance services to government and implementing partners;
  • Designing, development and dissemination of user-friendly and up-to-date education and advocacymaterials and tools;
  • Advocacy and lobby to place nutrition high on national development agenda;
  • Working with CBOs/FBOs to implement community-based health and nutrition-related programs andcounselling services to improve nutrition for women, children and other vulnerable groups;
  • Networking within the country and abroad for cross-fertilization of ideas to increase the effectiveness ofthe organization and its work.

 

COUNSENUTH’s Target Groups are Women, Children, Youth, Adolescents and Families; Other vulnerable groups such as orphans, the elderly and the sick; Social/Health service providers at all levels, extension workers; CSOs (including FBOs, CBOs and NGOs); relevant training institutions; policy and decision makers; general public
