Kilimo kwa Lishe Bora is an integral component of the Agroforestry for Sustainable Livelihoods and Biodiversity (ASILI-B) program, a comprehensive five-year initiative running from 2023 to 2027. This program, spearheaded by Vi Agroforestry, collaborates with farmers’ organizations to combat poverty and address climate change. The project places a significant emphasis on promoting biodiversity, reforestation, and sustainable agriculture practices.
The Centre’s role within the Kilimo kwa Lishe Bora project is crucial, focusing on delivering gender-responsive nutrition-related technical support. This support is directed towards the ASILI-B Core and Technical Partners, enabling them to integrate effective nutrition interventions into their respective programs. By doing so, the Centre ensures that these interventions are scaled and disseminated effectively to the farmers’ organizations they support.
ASILI-B’s overarching objective is to enhance the food and nutrition security of smallholder farmer families. In addition to improving sustainable livelihoods, the program aims to promote gender equality and increase resilience against various socio-economic and environmental challenges. Furthermore, the initiative is dedicated to advancing biodiversity conservation and contributing to climate change mitigation efforts in Tanzania.
