
Lishe Kijinsia Dodoma (Gender and Nutrition) is a community-based, gender-driven, and learning-based nutrition program implemented by Chemba District Council, Dodoma region, with COUNSENUTH’s technical support and financial support of the Embassy of Ireland (through Irish Aid), geared towards reducing childhood stunting among children 0-59 months by at least 5% in 4 years (2018-2022) from 37.7%. The program addresses nutrition through a multi-sectoral approach including Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC), and mainstreaming gender interventions in nutrition through the TRLA approach, with active involvement of local communities (men, women, teachers, students, health workers, community leaders, extension workers, and community health workers) within existing national infrastructure. In June 2021, the Center entered the fourth year of implementation. Key Interventions of the program are; Promotion of optimal behaviors for improving MIYCAN; WASH; improved Dietary Diversity for U5s and pregnant women; TRLA, enhancing life skills in primary schools for improved sexual and reproductive health and healthy lifestyles.
